5 Proven Tips to Pass the CPACC with Severe Test Anxiety - Free 28 Day CPACC Success Study Schedule

Passing the CPACC is no small feat. People fail for all kinds of reasons; from being underprepared to overthinking every question thanks to severe test anxiety.

As someone who passed with a 750/800 (read about my full experience here), and as the creator of the first digital CPACC study cards, I’ve had the privilege to help many customers who have shared their disabilities, challenges, and the number one issue: crippling test anxiety. Their testing anxiety generally derives from lack of testing accommodations, memory deficits, and overthinking.

But let me be clear- a pass/fail score is rarely the test taker’s “fault.” Most failures usually come down to three things:

  1. Lack of time to prepare
  2. Lack of accessible resources to study effectively
  3. Anxiety that sabotages performance

If you have a disability like me (I’m neurodivergent), I recommend choosing the proctored exam option. This helps prevent any misunderstandings or accusations around cheating that could arise from your physical or cognitive differences. Before scheduling your CPACC, confirm with IAAP that your required accommodations will be in place so your testing environment is supportive. While nerves are normal, setting up a safe and comfortable space can help you stay grounded during stressful moments.

Here’s how to beat all of these unfair barriers and set yourself up to pass on the first try:

1. Schedule Study Time Like It’s a Meeting

We’re all busy, but your career deserves space on your calendar. Block dedicated time for CPACC prep- this small shift trains your brain to prioritize and retain the material. When I studied for the CPACC, I committed 90 minutes a day for 3 months. I know that’s not realistic for everyone, so I created a free 28-day condensed study plan to help you stay on track and pass with confidence.

2. Read the Official Study Material First

Resources like Deque and Princeton Review guides get good feedback from past test-takers. Start there so you have the right foundation. The Deque study material is a rather long read, but necessary for beginners starting out in accessibility. It is $70 (last time I checked) but you do get access for an entire year. It was helpful to have access to it for the time I was studying.

3. Don’t Skip the BOK (and Its References)

A few of the CPACC questions come directly from the Body of Knowledge and even the extra resources it points to. Skim those linked articles because they can give you an edge- and of course more points. The BOK is only available in PDF at the moment with no screen reader capabilities, and that is why I provide the CPACC Study cards in audio format for learners with visual disabilities, neurodivergent, and busy learners.

4. Don’t Get Stuck Rereading the BOK

The BOK is crucial to passing the CPACC; however, the BOK was not built to retain your attention. It's a wordy text document with no screen-reader capability. In my opinion, once you’ve read it once thoroughly, move on. Scientifically, overstudying can have adverse effects because it wastes time and drains your energy. While studying for my exams, I felt like rereading the BOK was not going to be helpful in truly memorizing all of this knowledge - so decided to write study material onto notecards. After I passed, I replicated the same cards to help others prepare when they need a condensed refresher of the study material. The CPACC study cards with 150 practice questions (25% off with Neuro25 until September) gives you a fast, targeted review method without burnout.

5. Practice With Realistic Questions

The CPACC exam loves tricky wording. If you’ve never seen their style before, you’ll waste time second-guessing yourself- and this will cause even more anxiety because you only have 2 hours to complete your test. Most online practice tests have only a handful of questions. That’s why I designed 150 CPACC exam-style questions to fully simulate the actual exam experience.

If you apply these five tips, you’ll walk into the exam calmer, sharper, and more confident - and that’s the winning formula for your CPACC.
